CareerMatch is designed with privacy in mind. We collect minimal data to provide our services:

  • Profile Data: Your name, age, education level, desired role, and salary expectations. This data is stored locally in your browser using localStorage and is never transmitted to our servers.
  • Skills & Experience: Skills you add (with categories and proficiency levels) and work experience entries. These are also stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage.
  • Saved Jobs: Jobs you bookmark are stored in your browser's localStorage.
  • Theme Preference: Your light/dark mode preference is saved in localStorage.

2. How We Use Your Information

Your profile, skills, and experience data are used solely to:

  • Match your skills against job listing requirements
  • Calculate estimated salary ranges
  • Generate personalized career insights and recommendations
  • Display your saved jobs and career progress

All of this processing happens entirely within your browser. We do not store, process, or have access to your personal data on any server.

3. Third-Party Services

CareerMatch uses the following third-party services:

  • JSearch API (via RapidAPI): When you perform a job search, your search query (job title, location) is sent to the JSearch API to retrieve real job listings. No personal profile data is sent with these requests. JSearch's privacy policy governs their handling of search queries.
  • Tailwind CSS CDN: We load the Tailwind CSS framework from a CDN. This may log standard web request data (IP address, browser type) as per the CDN provider's policies.

4. Data Storage & Security

All your personal data (profile, skills, experiences, saved jobs) is stored exclusively in your browser's localStorage. This means:

  • Your data stays on your device and is never transmitted to us
  • Clearing your browser data will remove all stored information
  • Your data is only accessible from the browser and device you used to enter it
  • We cannot recover your data if it is lost or deleted

5. Cookies

CareerMatch does not use cookies. We use localStorage for saving your preferences and data, which is a different browser storage mechanism that does not track you across websites.

6. Children's Privacy

CareerMatch is not intended for use by individuals under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

7. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
